Frequently Asked Questions

Let me answer some of the questions you might have!

Therapy Closeup

Q: What are your fees?

A: $180 for 50-minute individual sessions and $220 for 50-minute partnership / couples and family sessions.

Q: How do I know if you're a good fit for me?

A: Therapeutic fit is critical! Research and lived experience agree that it is the single most significant predictor of the client's success in therapy. I offer free consultations so that we can determine together if I feel like the right therapist for you. It is important to me that you find someone who feels like a good fit for you, even if that person isn't me. If it's not a fit, I'll help you find someone who is.

Q: Do you accept insurance?

A: Unfortunately, I am not able to accept any insurance plans, as I am not paneled with any insurances. However, I am happy to provide you with a superbill!

Q: What is a superbill?

A: A superbill is a receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for our sessions. If you have out of network mental health benefits, you may be reimbursed by your insurance company for part or all of the session fee. A superbill itself is not a guarantee of reimbursement.

Q: How do I know if I have out-of-network benefits?

A: Take a look at your insurance card. If you have a PPO, you may have out-of-network benefits. There will be a number on the back of your insurance card, often called "member services". Give them a call and say "I would like to know if I have any out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health". They should be able to answer this or connect you with a person who can give you an answer. If you have an HMO, you likely do not have out-of-network benefits.

Q: Why don't you accept insurance?

A: I have been a client seeking therapy and I totally understand it can be frustrating when providers don't take your insurance! While being accessible is an important value to me, I have also found that

insurances can cause more headaches for both client and provider. Insurance companies frequently limit the number of sessions, require clients to have specific diagnoses, and engage in clawbacks, where they retroactively reverse their decision for reimbursement months or even years after the session takes place. For these reasons, I prefer to maintain accessibility to my services by offering sliding scale spots dependent on income and supporting folks in using their out-of-network benefits. â€‹

Q: What modalities are you trained in?

A: I am an Internal Family Systems (IFS) Level 1 Trained Psychotherapist and have training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) through my work in PHP/IOP eating disorders.
